Story songs and shadow puppets!

Well, it took a lot longer than anticipated, but the new EP 'In the End' is finally out in the world today! It makes a neat trilogy of three 5-track EPs now released under my nickname Banjo Jen and it marks the end of the first chapter. It's a new recording, but they're pretty old songs! It features my more folky, character-based / story songs regularly requested at gigs. From shady creatures and spirit animals to gold rush entrepreneurs and murderous nursery rhyme characters, they're songs to fire the imagination. This recording also features the stunning vocals, accordion and flute of El Heneghan for the first time. I'm so lucky to have amazing musicians play with me. It was also produced by Grammy Award-winning Chris G Wilkinson at Balcomy Recording Company right here in Sheffield.

Speaking of amazing talent in Sheffield, the second single 'The Liar' was released earlier in the summer and I commissioned a wonderful local company called Morris 3 Productions to make a shadow puppet animation film for the music video. Thanks to all the generous donors who helped support the project. I was interviewed about it, along with Cole Morris the creator, on BBC Radio Sheffield, and the video has also won a film award!
